First annual " Comedy Under the Stars " benefiting the Boys and Girls Club of Diablo Valley will make The Martinez Waterfront Amphitheater roar with laughter.
On Saturday, August 20 at 8:00 p.m. (Doors open at 7 p.m.) at the John Muir Martinez Waterfront Amphitheater, 115 Tarantino Drive, Martinez, CA, This hilarious benefit show will star Dennis Gaxiola (Headliner) who is one of America’s funniest clean comedians. This preacher’s son gained notoriety from his appearances with Jamie Foxx on Comedy Central, The Latino Kings of Comedy Tour with Paul Rodriguez, BET’s Comic View, Que Locos and the 2010 season Martin Lawrence’s First Amendment Stand Up. Dennis has opened for celebrity acts: Jamie Foxx, Al Green, Earth Wind & Fire, Mariah Carey, Toni Braxton, Paul Rodriguez, Mike Epps, Cedric The Entertainer, Gabriel Iglesias and many more. A comedian for all audiences, he has entertained in venues including the Apollo Theater in New York, clubs, colleges, concerts and churches across the country.
Grant Lyon (Featured) in Comedy under the stars started his career in vibrant San Francisco comedy scene. In 2014, he won the Laughing Skull Comedy Festival. He’s performed in festivals including The Great American Comedy Festival, Bumbershoot Music & Arts Festival, and the Bridgetown Comedy Festival. Lyon’s credits include the TV show Comics Unleashed and the nationally syndicated Bob and Tom Radio Show. He is heard regularly on Sirius/XM satellite radio. Tony Sparks (MC and Opening Act) “The Ambassador of Stand Up Comedy,” Sparks founded and has hosted San Francisco’s longest-running open-mic comedy night, BrainWash. In his 18 year tenure, Sparks has become known for his ad-lib comedy style.
