Police make arrest in home burglaries

25 year-old Danville man arrested Thursday morning

Danville Police detectives executed search and arrest warrants Thursday morning, in connection with residential burglaries occurring in Danville & Blackhawk since mid-December 2012.

Police Chief Steve Simpkins said at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 14, 2013, police executed a search warrant for a home in the 100 block of Narcissus Court in Danville. Charles E. Ratazak, 25, was taken into custody on multiple charges.

Police began receiving reports of items taken from homes in surrounding neighborhoods two months ago. One resident set up a camera and provided police with surveillance video showing a suspect entering a home. Police received similar calls from a homeowner in Blackhawk and the investigation  led to the search warrant and arrest warrant executed Feb. 14, 2013.

Ratazak was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Martinez Detention Facility. He is facing charges of residential burglary, possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance for sale and probation violation.

Chief Simpkins said he was very happy with the solid police work that led to the arrest.

“This was a great example of police officers working with the community,” he stated. “Our officers were getting excellent information from the residents being affected in these burglaries and they were able to use it to make an arrest and bring peace of mind to the neighborhood.”
