Bishop Ranch Designated One Of The Best Workplaces For Commuters By National Center For Transit Research
Bishop Ranch Transportation Association Meets National Standard of Excellence For Outstanding Commuter Benefits
San Ramon—The National Center for Transit Research (NCTR) at the University of South Florida has named Bishop Ranch, the San Francisco Bay Area’s premier business community, one of the nation’s “Best Workplaces for Commuters.” This distinction recognizes Bishop Ranch’s offering of outstanding commuter benefits that promote energy conservation, reduce traffic and air pollution, and meet the National Standard of Excellence. The extensive array of transportation services offered by the Bishop Ranch Transportation Association (BRTA) allow employees to make more environmentally-friendly arrangements for their commute qualified the business community for the designation.
“As the East Bay’s largest business community, Bishop Ranch is committed to creatively exceeding the transportation needs of our 30,000 commuters and we are dedicated to providing innovative transportation solutions for all employers,” said Alexander Mehran, Jr., President and COO at Sunset Development Company, the developers and owners of Bishop Ranch. “Our goal is to help alleviate commuter strain, which improves the quality of life for employees and the quality of the environment for our community.”
The NCTR designation requires a workplace to foster a culture of flexibility in its daily operation, so employees can make more environmentally-friendly arrangements for their commute. “Best Workplaces for Commuters” is a program designed to cut traffic congestion and traffic-related air pollution, and recognizes employers that provide environmentally-friendly commuter benefits to employees.
BRTA commuter programs include a Direct Luxury Commuter Bus Service to San Francisco and Silicon Valley, personalized commute planning assistance, free express bus connections to BART, free bus passes for the County Connection and DriveNow BMW Carshare program. All of these programs are available on site, and the BRTA operates a full-time transportation office to save Bishop Ranch tenants, employees and guests time and money.
“Bishop Ranch employees have a variety of aspirations when they come to work each day,” said Chris Weeks, Director of Transportation at Bishop Ranch. “Our programs allow them to commute to and from work in a variety of ways that are outside the norm of single-car commuting. We believe that offering these benefits is a win-win for employees who change their commuting habits to save time, money and stress, and employers, who gain a competitive edge in employee recruiting and retention.”
In addition to the recognition by the National Center for Transit Research two years running, Bishop Ranch has also earned several awards from the Environmental Protection Agency for its commitment to transportation needs.
