Danville-Alamo-Walnut Creek AAUW Membership Brunch

September 21, 2013 @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

Why are fewer women running for office? The New York Times recently reported that in California and nationwide, “the representation of women in state and local government has been in steady decline the past 12 years.”  Cindy Silva, mayor of Walnut Creek, will tackle this subject when she speaks on “Women at the Local Elected Level: Making a Difference,” at the Danville-Alamo-Walnut Creek American Association of University Women (AAUW) Annual Brunch.
The subject hits close to home for Mayor Silva who has dedicated the past 20 years as a public servant and community volunteer for one of the county’s most vital cities. As keynote speaker, she will share her thoughts on public office and more. To register, go to http://daw-ca.aauw.net/
AAUW membership is open to all graduates of accredited four year colleges or universities and those holding an Associate Degree or equivalent, which is a recent change. Prospective members are welcome and may contact call Liz at  925-389-0152.
