Contra Costa County Library is further strengthening the partnership between museums and libraries by providing eBook recommendations that cardholders can download immediately to a device before, during, or after their visit to a Discover & Go museum, theatre or zoo. With Discover & Go Booklists, Contra Costa County Library extends the fun in learning by providing visually appealing eBooks – and print booklists – on museum-related topics.
Aquarium of the Bay, Golden State Model Railroad Museum, and Oakland Zoo are just a few of the Discover & Go venues that have recommended eBooks prominently featured on the Library’s visual catalog. You can find the Booklists located throughout the Contra Costa County Library website while browsing venues, reviewing the Discover & Go Guide, and in the email notifications associated with your reservation.
The Library worked closely with digital book distributor, Baker & Taylor, to provide patrons with the selection of eBooks delivered on the Axis 360 platform. Cathy Sanford, Deputy County Librarian, remarks “Baker & Taylor’s colorful, interactive Axis 360 eBook collection allows our library cardholders to continue the fun, free learning experience they had at the museum through our Discover & Go Booklist selections. If you went to went to the Aquarium of the Bay and are now hooked on otters, we’ve got the Booklist for you.”
“Contra Costa County Library and Baker & Taylor have a long and rich history of collaboration on innovative programs for public libraries,” said George Coe, President of Baker & Taylor Library and Education. “We are very proud to be participating again with Cathy Sanford and her group, integrating the Axis 360 digital circulation platform into Contra Costa County Library’s unique Discover & Go museum access program. Axis 360 eBooks will be accessible on the mobile devices of patrons visiting museums, helping to further enrich the experience provided to them through their library.” The Library’s Axis 360 collection is available to patrons on the go through the axisReader app or the fully accessible ereader, Blio.
